Seven Point Mind Training (Lo Jong)

The development of loving kindness and compassion as an alternative to egotism is a core teaching in Tibetan Buddhism. The Seven Point Mind Training (Tibetan: Lo Jong Don Dun Ma) contains a number of essential instructions for training in the development of this great compassion. This text is one of the most famous in the Mahayana tradition of the great Kadampa masters and is used in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

Je Nang / Initiation

A ceremony to give permission (Tibetan: Je Nang) to practise the meditation Buddha Mitrugpa. Potentially powerful karmic imprints left by harmful actions which we have done in this and previous lives can cloud our minds and threaten the quality of our present and future lives. The peaceful, dark blue Buddha Mitrugpa - one of the aspects of the Dhyani - Buddha Akshobya - is mainly meditated upon to purify one’s karma. This Je Nang is a kriya tantric practice and is open to everyone.

Public Lecture: Ethics in the next millennium

Since we are on the brink of a new millennium whilst at the same time pressure on planet earth and on its inhabitants has become dangerously high, the message of the Dalai Lama concerning universal responsibility increases in importance and power. Many times he has emphasized that our world is becoming ever smaller and ever more interdependent due to the rapid growth of population and communication technology. The consequences of problems and of threats here and there on earth can no longer be avoided whether they are of a political, social, economic or environmental nature. Universal responsibility is the true key to overcome our problems. The only way to make universal responsibility a reality is to develop it in the consciousness of every human being.
